Acne can easily lead to scarring which can be distressing for those affected and challenging to treat. Although it may not be possible to eliminate scars completely, treatments are available which can significantly improve their appearance. Acne scars develop as a result of inflammation and infection which destroy the collagen in the underlying tissue. Scars can vary in depth and appearance and in some cases are accompanied by red or brown pigmentation. Active acne needs to be stabilized for a period of six months or more before acne scarring treatment can be considered.
HOW WE TREAT THEM
A combination approach is generally recommended. This can include non-ablative laser resurfacing co2re, picoway or micro-needling treatments to promote healing below the skin.
